Terms of service
Version 2026-11-03. These terms are the regulations ("regulamin") under the Polish Act of 18 July 2002 on Providing Services by Electronic Means.
1. Service provider
HeadlineHaha is provided by Krzysztof Fiok, ul. Skalbmierska 14/9, 01-848 Warszawa, Poland, NIP 7010098607, email contact@headlinehaha.com ("we").
2. The service
HeadlineHaha shows short news items about current events and, on request, writes a short joke about a news item or a topic you choose. Jokes are generated by an AI model (Claude, by Anthropic). Jokes are AI-generated satire about public news, not factual reporting. Every news-based joke links to the original news source, so you can read the facts there. We are not affiliated with Wikipedia, the Wikimedia Foundation or the publishers we link to.
3. Content sources and attribution
- World news (the default region): the news items and their headline text come from Wikipedia's Current events portal, written by Wikipedia contributors and licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 International licence (CC BY-SA 4.0). We use the text with formatting and links removed, and long items are shortened. The adapted headline text is available under the same licence.
- Each news item shows a link to the Wikipedia page for that day and a link to the original news source that Wikipedia cites. The linked articles belong to their publishers.
- Regional news (European Union, Poland, Germany, France, Spain, Italy, United Kingdom, United States): the news items are found with an AI web search (Claude by Anthropic). Their headlines and summaries are written by the AI in its own words, are marked "written by AI", and link to the original article. We do not copy the publishers' text. The linked articles belong to their publishers.
- Topic summaries and jokes are written by AI. They are satire, not part of Wikipedia, and not endorsed by Wikipedia or by the publishers.
4. Technical requirements
- A device with internet access and an up-to-date browser (for example Chrome, Firefox, Safari or Edge) with JavaScript and cookies enabled.
- A Google account to sign in.
Using any internet service carries general risks, such as malware or phishing attempts. Never enter your Google password anywhere except on Google's own sign-in page. We will never ask you for your password.
5. Your account
- The agreement starts when you sign in for the first time and accept these terms. It runs for an indefinite period. The account itself is free.
- You must be at least 18 years old. Each person may have one account.
- You can end the agreement at any time by deleting your account on the account page.
- We may suspend or close an account that seriously or repeatedly breaks these terms, after warning you by email where that is reasonable.
6. Prohibited use
You must not use the service to: request or spread illegal content; harass, threaten or incite hatred against anyone; try to make the AI produce harmful content or get around its safeguards; present generated jokes as true facts or use them to defame real people; use steering instructions for any of these purposes; access the service automatically (bots, scraping), except through the API described in section 16, or get around usage limits; or disrupt the service in any way.
7. Credits
- New accounts get 5 free jokes. While you have free jokes left, each joke uses one of them instead of credits. If the AI declines a request, or a technical error happens, the free joke is given back; if you leave the page while a free joke is being written, it is used up. Free jokes have no cash value and cannot be transferred or refunded.
- After the free jokes, jokes are paid with prepaid credits.
- Customers who have bought any credit pack can "steer" a joke with a short style instruction (up to 200 characters, for example "as a limerick"). A steered joke always costs credits, even if free jokes are left, and may cost slightly more because the instruction is part of the text the AI reads. Steering changes only style, format and tone: the rules in sections 6 and 10 apply to steering instructions too, and instructions that try to get around them are ignored. Steering instructions are not stored.
- Each joke costs credits based on the amount of text the AI reads and writes (input and output tokens), at the prices shown on the pricing page. The exact cost is shown after every joke.
- While a joke is being written, the maximum possible price of one joke is held from your balance. The unused part is returned when the joke is finished. If the AI declines a request, or a technical error happens, you are not charged. If you leave the page while a joke is still being written, the held maximum price may be charged.
- Credits cannot be transferred to another account, have no cash value and do not expire while your account exists. Unused credits are lost when you delete your account (see the refund policy for purchased credits).
- We may change per-joke prices for the future, with notice on the pricing page. Credits you already have keep their number.
8. Payments and the right of withdrawal
[TO BE COMPLETED WHEN PAYMENTS ARE ADDED.] Credit packs will be sold by our reseller and Merchant of Record, Paddle.com Market Limited ("Paddle"). Paddle processes the payment, issues the invoice and handles VAT, refunds and withdrawals. Paddle's buyer terms (paddle.com/legal) apply to the purchase.
[TO BE COMPLETED.] Consumers have a statutory right to withdraw from a distance contract within 14 days. For digital content, this right may be lost once delivery starts with the consumer's express consent and acknowledgement (art. 38(1)(13) of the Polish Consumer Rights Act). The checkout will ask for this consent. Our refund policy below applies in any case.
9. Refund policy
You can request a refund of a purchased credit pack within 14 days of purchase. We refund the unused part of the pack. Free jokes and any free credits are not refundable. Refunds are processed by Paddle: contact Paddle via paddle.net or write to contact@headlinehaha.com.
10. AI-generated content
Jokes and topic summaries are generated automatically by AI. They are satire and fiction, not news or statements of fact, and they do not represent our views or the views of the publishers. Despite our safeguards, a joke may be inaccurate, unfunny or inappropriate. Please check the original source for the facts. If a joke is harmful or offensive, tell us at contact@headlinehaha.com. Linked articles belong to their publishers.
11. Complaints
You can file a complaint about the service by email to contact@headlinehaha.com. Please describe the problem and include the email address of your account. We will reply within 14 days. Consumers can also seek out-of-court help, for example from a municipal or district consumer ombudsman (rzecznik konsumentów) or the Provincial Inspectorate of Trade Inspection (WIIH).
12. Liability
We work to keep the service available, but we cannot guarantee uninterrupted operation, for example during maintenance or outages of our providers. To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for the content of AI-generated jokes or for indirect losses, and our total liability is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. These limits do not apply where the law does not allow them, in particular to consumers' statutory rights or to damage caused intentionally.
13. Personal data
How we handle personal data is described in the privacy policy.
14. Changes to these terms
We may change these terms for important reasons, such as changes in the law, new features (for example payments) or security. We will announce changes on the site at least 14 days before they take effect, and ask you to accept the new version the next time you sign in. If you do not accept, you can delete your account at any time.
15. Governing law
These terms are governed by Polish law. If you are a consumer, this does not take away the protection given to you by the mandatory laws of the country where you live. Disputes are settled by the competent common courts.
16. API and agent access
- On the account page you can create personal API tokens. A token lets an AI agent or other software that you use (for example Claude Code or Claude Desktop, through the Model Context Protocol, MCP) request jokes for you.
- Tokens are personal. Keep them secret and do not share them. You are responsible for what is done with your tokens. If a token may have leaked, revoke it on the account page.
- Jokes requested with a token are billed to your account in credits, at the same prices and with the same limits as on the website (section 7).
- These terms, including the prohibited uses in section 6 and the AI-content rules in section 10, apply in the same way to requests made with a token.
- We may revoke a token, or limit API access, if it is used to abuse the service or break these terms.
